What is Mental health?
It is a state of wellbeing complete in which individuals recognize their abilities, cope with the everyday stresses of life, work productively and fruitfully, and contribute to their communities.
Mental Health is more than the mere absence of mental disorders. The positive dimension of mental health has been underlined in the WHO definition of health, as stated in the constitution itself: « Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not only the absence of diseases or illnesses. ». Mental health concepts include subjective wellbeing, autonomy, competence, intergenerational dependency, and recognition of the ability to fulfill oneself intellectually and emotionally.
Mental health refers to the ability to increase the competence of individuals and communities and enable them to achieve their own goals. It has also been sharp as a state of wellbeing through which individuals recognize their abilities, cope with everyday life stresses, work productively and fruitfully, and contribute to their communities. Mental health is of concern to everyone, and not just to those affected by a mental disorder.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE DIAGNOSED?
If you think you have a mental health challenge, you can see a mental health professional. This person will listen to you and try to understand what is happening to you. A mental health professional will tell you if you have a mental illness or not after talking with you and knowing your feelings, how often you have them and how they affect your life. If your mental health certified thinks you have a mental illness, he will tell you what you have, for example, depression or anxiety, and this is called making a diagnosis.
Some people with mental illness take medicine to make themselves feel better. For others, spending a little time in the hospital helps them get away from the stress and nerves they feel in their daily lives. Some people find it helpful to talk to a mental health professional. The perfect combination of what works is different for everyone. Once they find something to help them, most people with mental illness can recover and live healthy and fulfilling lives.
